Job Locations and Reviews
Headed out to a home in Scott where the homeowner said the house was cooling to the thermostat setpoint just fine but still felt damp and clammy all afternoon. South Louisiana summer humidity is in a class of its own and there are days when even a properly functioning AC system cannot control indoor moisture levels to a truly comfortable range on its own. Installed a whole-home dehumidifier tied into the return duct system, connected the condensate drain line, calibrated the humidity controls to target comfortable indoor levels, and tested operation alongside the central AC. Homeowner said it felt like a different house before I even finished explaining the controls to them.
Headed to a home in the Harvest Point neighborhood in Scott where the homeowner had been putting off a maintenance visit all spring and now that the real South Louisiana heat had set in, they wanted to make sure the system was in good shape before it had to work even harder through August. Cleaned the condenser coil, tested the dual-run capacitor and contactor for wear, tightened electrical connections at the disconnect and air handler, checked refrigerant pressures, replaced the air filter, and flushed the condensate drain that had significant algae buildup starting to form. Temperature split across the evaporator came in where it should be. System is ready for the rest of the summer and the homeowner caught the drain issue before it became a water problem in the ceiling.
Got called to a home in the Judice Oaks neighborhood in Scott where the system had been cooling poorly for a couple of weeks and the homeowner had already had another company out who could not figure out why the house was not reaching the set temperature. Inspected the system carefully and found a failed thermostatic expansion valve that was restricting refrigerant flow through the evaporator coil. When a TXV fails in a South Louisiana summer, the system just cannot pull the heat and humidity out of the air the way it needs to. Replaced the TXV, verified refrigerant charge and pressures, and ran a full extended cooling cycle to confirm the system was performing correctly. House reached set temperature for the first time in weeks and the homeowner was relieved to finally have an answer
