Pulled up to a home in the La Poste De Opelousas community where the homeowner said another company had quoted them a new compressor and a full system replacement after the AC started short cycling and not reaching temperature. Before spending that kind of money, they called us for a second opinion. Ran a thorough diagnostic and found the compressor was pulling within normal amperage range. The real problem was a cottonwood-packed condenser coil causing the system to trip the high-pressure limit switch early every cycle, which looks like compressor failure if you are not checking for it. Cleaned the coil thoroughly, cleared the cabinet, and watched the system run through three complete full cooling cycles without a single trip. No compressor, no replacement needed.
